Arianee Taps Polygon CDK to Launch L2 for Tokenization of Digital Product Passports at Scale

Polygon x Arianee for Digital Product Passports at Scale

Through this integration with Polygon CDK, Arianee aims to help brands build their blockchain infrastructures in the most secure, scalable, and cost-effective way possible.

Paris, February 22nd, 2024 - Arianee, which develops user data infrastructure based on ownership enabling Digital Product Passports for Real World Assets, and Polygon Labs, a software development company building Ethereum scaling architecture for the Polygon protocols, announced the development today. Arianee has used the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), an open-source codebase for launching Zero-Knowledge proof-based L2 chains with limitless scalability and unified liquidity, to develop an optimized and dedicated Layer-2 (L2). The launch will enable brands to leverage the full potential of digital product passports (DPPs) and engagement tokens at a very large scale.

Arianee Association, composed of 40+ brands such as Audemars Piguet, Breitling, Panerai, Mugler, Moncler, and many others, has chosen Polygon — one of the most energy-efficient blockchains on the scale of Ethereum — to enable companies with the capability to deploy a new customer data infrastructure, natively dynamic and controlled by users, complementing first and third-party data. Since 2018, Arianee has been one of the most used protocols in the world, with more than 1.5 million DPPs and engagement tokens minted by 50 brands in different industries, including luxury, watches, fashion, consumer brands, and entertainment.

As the forthcoming DPP EU regulations draw near, digital product passports are becoming the norm and brands are slowly embracing it. The watch industry - including Breitling, IWC, Richard Mille, and Vacheron Constantin, which are part of the Arianee association - has been pioneering the use of DPPs to unlock new opportunities regarding consumer engagement & transparency.

From now on, Arianee will enable brands to leverage an optimized and dedicated Layer-2 (L2) application-specific chain (appchain) powered by Polygon CDK to launch their own digital product passports and loyalty tokens. Further, since this ZK-powered L2 appchain is permissionless, any brand and developer will be able to use it to design highly customizable, cost-effective, secure, and performant infrastructures tailored to their specific needs.

As a result, brands will now have the best of both worlds, benefiting from all Arianee Protocol features as well as Polygon CDK advantages, including:

  • Scalability & Performance: high performance powered by cutting-edge ZK tech to meet the growing demand for a large number of lightning-speed transactions on the network.
  • Security & Sovereignty: protection against potential attacks and vulnerabilities.
  • Interoperability & EMV Compatibility: All brands using the ERC-721 standard to mint their digital passports can integrate their infrastructure into the Arianee Protocol with Polygon CDK. This improves communication and collaboration between various protocols and chains.
  • Flexibility: an ability to maintain unique features and capabilities on multiple blockchain networks.
  • Unified blockspace dedicated to each application ensures that user experience is not affected by any extraneous high activity on the network. It provides better performance with dedicated throughput.
  • Cost-effectiveness management: allows brands and developers to better manage costs related to the operation of the Protocol, such as gas fees, smart contracts, currency, etc.

“We have been early believers in the Polygon ecosystem, and worked on the mainnet with many of our  clients. Today, our decision to build a powerful L2 appchain powered by Polygon CDK allows us to take another momentous stride toward building blockchain-based solutions where performance, scalability, and connectivity are the norm,“ noted Pierre-Nicolas Hurstel, CEO & Co-Founder of Arianee.

This development is a step forward for the whole ecosystem, further advancing Arianee and Polygon Labs’ joint mission to give access to high-performance and scalable solutions to brands willing to build scalable projects.

”We believe that Polygon CDK holds the potential to revolutionize industries far beyond the realms of crypto and finance. We are happy to see Arianee, a platform that has been working with some of the finest global brands on real-life use cases, start building with Polygon CDK,” said Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs.
