We are excited to share the first key milestone in the project: The first digital product passport that has been successfully created by the Darty team.
Using a dedicated app, Darty’s operators can now seamlessly create Digital Passports for refurbished products dedicated to second hand. The process is simple:
- They first apply a QR Code sticker on the product (scroll down to see how it looks!)
- The operator scans the bar code on the product with the app to retrieve the product data
- A simple scan of the QR code on the product sticker automatically creates the Passport, with all the product’s information linked with the QR code.
- Two key events (a key feature of the Arianee protocol, creating a documented time-stamp on the passport) are automatically added to the passport history to ensure traceability and transparency:
- Product Commissioning date: The moment the product is officially registered in the system (through first date of sale or resale)
- Reconditioning Date: Capturing essential refurbishment details, including product condition, defect location, and repairs performed, providing a clear record of the product’s second life.
At operational level, this first implementation eliminates manual data entry from operators to digitize product information and ensures seamless traceability for second-life products.
So what went into creating the first Digital Product Passport? Here’s an example of the customer journey for the operator on the field :
