The way we track, repair, and reuse durable goods is evolving. With millions of products re-entering the market each year, transparency and circularity are no longer just goals, but necessities.
Last November, ecosystem launched a large-scale deployment of Digital Product Passports. ecosystem is an eco-organization dedicated to extending the lifespan of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). Alongside Fnac Darty, Beko and Envie, the project is proposing a new standard for product traceability, with one north star: extending the lifespan of Electric and Electronic products.
Built on the Arianee Protocol, an open-source and interoperable infrastructure, Digital Passports provide a digital record of products lifecycle, including:
- Durability and environmental impact
- Repair and maintenance history
- Traceability from assembly to resale in the second-hand market
By connecting products, services and circular economy stakeholders, this project enhances product longevity, supports reuse, refurbishment, resale and regulatory compliance.
This curated project hub is here to bring you key project milestones, insights on this large-scale DPP implementation, and a behind-the-scenes look at its deployment. Several project streams will be launched as part of this experimentation, starting with products entering a second life. Below is an overview of the different stages of the product lifecycle that will be addressed through the creation of Digital Passports creation and the time-stamping of key events:
